MyDoorHandle is an on-line tool to make it easy to exchange, send or share location information using a simple name or url. The mobile software is designed to implement a responsive cached service on any android device and interact with the MyDoorHandle web service. The software gives directions and displays mapping information to named locations and allows sharing of locations via social media.
I was asked to implement an Android version of the service using the pre-existing backend services. I did the design and all programming on the application.
The software will run on any device running Android 2.3+; it was developed as a native Java Android application. It makes extensive use of google maps technology for display and routing information and communicates to the web service using a standard JSON interface.
The application is available on the play store after several revisions from the original development and is in use by members of the broader public.
